Q: How do we make sure our furnace and family are ready for the Super Bowl?
A: Plan ahead, be prepared and hire a really good offensive coordinator.
It’s only Saturday morning and you remember you have been tasked with hosting this year’s Super Bowl party! “Oh my,” you exclaim, “so much to do!” The house needs cleaned, groceries need to be bought, the TV needs to be big screen and hi-def! This is just the pregame!
Most of us put very little thought into our heating and cooling systems day to day. Much like your beloved team who you root for fearlessly, and say “they aren’t great, but they have a chance,” knowing deep in your heart adjustments are needed to be a true contender.
So too is your heating or cooling system! Just like that wily veteran you love so much. Awesome in his prime but starting to miss the odd tackle he used to make every time. He needs a little work! Some extra training and a longer ice bath after practice to soothe his aging knee.
Saturday noon, you begin to prep for your party. Making sure all your “ducts” are in a row so that the event can go off without a fumble. The two teams are also getting ready for the big day, running through some final drills, making last-minute adjustments in hopes of bringing home a big win. Halftime show performers are no doubt going through their final rehearsals trying to work out any kinks.
Much like this, in our line of work there is a lot going on behind the scenes. A proper install, replacement or remodel requires a lot of work. There is planning, prepping, gathering materials, all so the we can arrive at your job ready to execute the plan efficiently.
So now it’s Sunday morning and you are in full freak-out mode prepping for the big day! Things are looking good, your Roomba has just made its final sweep across the living room as your kitchen fills with the amazing smells of chili, hot wings, nacho cheese, and all the other delicious fare you can’t wait to serve your guests! It’s prefect!
Then … the call!
Your friend Dave is bringing his girlfriend, and she’s vegan! You scramble out of the pocket, spin past the defensive lineman, and sprint to the health food store! Grabbing every viable option, you are ensured of at least an extra point if you can pull this off. Back on the field (the kitchen actually) it’s all coming together to make sure everyone has an awesome game day!
As HVAC techs, we run into this all the time. We get a call from a customer and think we have the perfect play call! So, we set up our package, assemble our team, and head to the line. Confident and ready to go we start diagnosing or installing. However, sometimes we get to the job, line up, and see a defense we didn’t expect. A crawl space full of water, spiders galore, run away!
In times like this we must change the play from the line of scrimmage in order to accomplish our goal: Customer satisfaction.
Much like your favorite gridiron stars, we and our heating and cooling systems need a little TLC (and we are not talking about the early 90s pop group). Don’t be the zero who drops the ball. Don’t try the onside kick. Don’t put all your hopes in a last-ditch effort, Hail Mary!
